Our client is a rapidly growing machinery, equipment and portable building hire brand, primarily situated across Queensland and northern NSW. Their 100% Australian owned and operated business has focused on providing outstanding equipment hire services and solutions for more than 40 years. They provide modern, well maintained hire equipment at a competitive price to suit all customer’s needs.

Due to rapid growth they are now seeking to appoint a dynamic and motivated General Manager to join the Brisbane leadership team and lead a critical business unit across Sth East Queensland. The role requires strong initiative paired with a robust work ethic and the ability to take decisive action in a fast-paced environment.

The Role

Following recent acquisitions this business is experiencing rapid growth and with a strong forecast there is need to recruit an experienced and well-rounded professional who displays excellent operations management, solution sales ability and leadership skills. Reporting directly to the Director, the role will require you to impact the business performance through engaging leadership, business planning, operations management, sales & business development, supply chain management and superior customer service. In addition to undertake timely and accurate management reporting and broader business development within the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the team to achieve sales, service, inventory and profit targets.
  • Health & Safety – Ensure strict adherence to the company policy and compliances across the business as well as additional locations.
  • Manage the overall operations of the branch and work collaboratively with the team on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Develop business and foster a sales environment that keeps customers coming back.
  • Work and deliver on the company’s strategy and business plans.
  • Continuously develop skills and capabilities of the team.
  • Deliver excellent customer service in a professional and timely manner.
  • Be a proactive and engaging leader.
  • Timely and accurate management reporting across varied products, pricing, volumes, profit, forecasting etc.
  • Maintain insight and awareness of competitors and be competitive in offering services to customers aligned with market intelligence.
About You

Success in this role will come from demonstrated experience in operations, sales and service management in an industrial or wholesale environment team environment. You will be a self-motivated and an engaging leader with a solution-orientated approach. You will have a sharp business sense in driving the profitability of the business and a passion and energy to provide the best possible service levels to clients.

What you will bring to this role
  • Business acumen, customer focus and team leadership experience.
  • Operational and sales leadership experience with full P&L responsibilities.
  • Trade or engineering qualifications and tertiary will be highly regarded
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to recognise the links between operational plans, local initiatives and the broader company strategy
