John Downing joined the company in 1971 and, as the company developed from his family ownership, in 1988 he became founding member of Downing Teal.

He has worked and lived in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney and developed excellent contacts in each of those cities. Through regular visits to the East Coast, those contacts have been retained and developed as all of the parties became more senior. The company has excellent national clients in the construction, mining and engineering industries.

John is especially proud of the long-term relationships he has developed with clients and employees. Hamersley Iron, now Rio Tinto Iron Ore, was a client in 1966 and Beilby Downing Teal is still a preferred supplier for Executive Search for Rio Tinto globally. Similarly, Beilby Downing Teal have numerous highly qualified staff who have been with us for 20 years and more.

With Downing Teal having recently been acquired by CGH Group, John has moved to a CGH role but will continue to be heavily involved in BDT; assisting the group’s integration and further development into the industries in which he specialises.
