Port Waratah Coal Services has been receiving, stockpiling, blending and loading coal for export at the Port of Newcastle for over 40 years. They own and manage the Kooragang and Carrington Coal Terminals, with a combined capacity of 145 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). They have approximately 330 employees working across their business, operating their terminals 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.

Recruitment process steps

Step 1 – Apply

You will be required to enter some personal information along with your Resume & Cover Letter. Applications will not be reviewed until after the advertised closing date. Applications close 8 January 2024. Scroll down to apply.

Step 2 – Complete screening form

Once your application has been submitted successfully you will receive an email within two business days requesting you to complete some questions pertinent to the role.

Step 3 – Review of applications

Your application will be reviewed and comparatively assessed.

Step 4 – Recruitment Event

If you are proceeding to this stage you will receive an email invitation to attend from a BDT consultant.

Step 5 –  Talent Pool Invitation

If your application is successful you will receive a phone call inviting you to participate in a talent pool for Operator vacancies with Port Waratah for the following 12 months. You may then be contacted at some point within those 12 months to discuss an opportunity.

Step 6 – Background checking & Medical checking

You will receive a phone call from one of our BDT consultants to request referees, initiate a police check & book in a physical fitness (medical) appointment.

Applicants proceeding through to the next stage of the process will be invited to complete an online psychometric assessment. If you are proceeding to this stage you will receive an email invitation to attend from a BDT consultant.

Step 7 – Offer

You will receive an official offer of employment directly from Port Waratah.

Timeline

For applications submitted December 2023, you will be notified of the outcome by March 2024.
